The name given to me at birth is Joia. I’ve been passionate about music and people for as long as I can remember. As such, I self-define in equal parts as a therapist and facilitator as much as a musician, producer, engineer, vocalist and artist. The operating term in my life is integration. Over the last 15 years, I have labored in love to bring together a diverse spread of influences to sculpt my professional toolkit. In doing so, I take pride in saying that:
I am familiar with, and informed by, spiritual, psychological, and philosophical principles and language from both Eastern and Western lineages
In my education, I have resourced the wisdom of modern science as much as the wisdom of ancient indigenous teachings in understanding the issues that plague individuals and communities today
I value the yin practices of self-reflection, contemplation and retreat as much as the yang practices of ecstatic self-revelation and action-in-community
I believe that transformation, to be long-lasting and effective, must occur on/in all dimensions of the individual (emotional, psychological, physical, spiritual, social, financial, and artistic), as well as all levels of society (economic, social, political, social, educational, domestic, etc.)

Though it may ultimately be a mystery to surmise the reason why I gravitated so strongly to music in my lifetime, I can say with assurance that growing up in the household that I did, with the parents that I have, played a vital role in shaping my ear, as well as my soul. I quickly acquired a taste for musical diversity, which led me to pursue the study of blues and jazz piano in high school and college. I am currently enrolled in a BM in Jazz & American Improvised Music Forms at MSU in Denver, CO.
I started producing my first digital music in 2010, at the age of 16, and have been continuously producing since then. A quick look into my published discography reveals over 100 finished songs, with more than half of them professionally mixed and mastered. Please take a look at my linktree to get a more in-depth look at the music I’ve finished, and had a hand in helping others finish.
I am currently employed at four different music schools (Moon Magnet Music School, Lessons In Your Home, InHome Music Teachers, and PolyWave Music Production School), offering my services to young children and adults alike: mentorship in piano, music production, and artist development.
Finally, I am a top-ranking DJ at TH Entertainment, the premier DJ company in Colorado. I have been DJing since 2016, working hard to cultivate an aesthetic on the decks that, in many ways, reflects my integrationist approach to everything mentioned previously. I have DJ-ed close to 60 weddings here in Colorado, and dozens upon dozens of corporate events, dances, and private parties.

What am I here to do? My mission is threefold:To provide a therapeutic experience that doesn’t necessitate any of the regular bureaucratic, legal, or medical barriers and formalities. An experience centered around the innately healing effects of a relationship built on mutual respect, trust, courageousness, and a desire for growth.
To develop leaders and leadership qualities and capacities within willing youth. I am of the belief that, among the numerous things the world needs right now, young leaders are of utmost priority. My conception of a great leader involves an individual who, first and foremost, knows herself–her core values, her strengths and weaknesses, her liabilities and assets. Second, who knows her goals. And third, a great leader is empathic, sensitive, a fantastic listener, and an even better orator; he is one who knows what he would give his life for, and is able to speak to an audience–large or small–about said values and goals. To articulate them in an effective and inspiring manner. It is the maturation of voice, in my conception, which most defines a powerful leader.
Work with established or aspiring musicians, artists, and producers to help them curate their style and sound. This could take the form of aiding in the songwriting process, offering conceptual support for an artistic idea, providing the technical services of engineering, mixing, or mastering, or simply engaging in meaningful conversation to help discern the truest essence of an idea.
Owing to the nature of this model, it might be apparent that the three elements of my mission are interchangeable and cross-pollinating. What I mean by that is that an artist or vocalist may come to Ymmediation Music with the intention to help plant new creative seeds in her portfolio, but she may end up staying primarily for the personal growth experience she has with me. In finding a more authentic version of her sound, she may also, incidentally, tune in to deeply values she hitherto had no idea existed, and in so doing, develop organically into a leadership role. On the contrary, a client with an interest in politics and community organizing may come to formulate a clearer picture of his vision of social change, and leave Ymmediation Music with a strong desire to channel his passion through music. Such is the interconnected and integrated approach to my mission that I proudly herald.
Let me tell you…

Here I offer my service to those who find themselves in a precarious position in their lives. Do you feel like you’re at a precipice, wanting or needing to make a radical change in your life, but not knowing how? Are you yearning to better understand yourself? To deepen your identity and relationship to Nature, Others or God/Spirit/Creator? Are you an artist who feels “stuck” in a creative rut? Are you wanting to expand, evolve, or deepen your sound, style, or purpose? Ymmediation therapy is about utilizing the inherently liberating nature of spontaneity and improvisation to re-lease yourself, on new terms. We can talk about it, or you can talk about it, or you can listen to me talk about it. If you play an instrument, we can incorporate that into the process. I’ll jam with you to help the feelings flow. Or if you are wanting to feel more comfortable with your voice, we can hand select music that speaks directly to your soul, and we can vocalize together. In the process of crystallizing self-expression, you may just find that you have the qualities of a magnanimous leader :)
